Agnes Vu was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1971. She immigrated to Portland, Oregon with her parents and three siblings in 1992 because of her father’s status in the South Vietnamese military. Vu received an accounting degree from Portland Community College and currently works at the Archdiocese of Portland. In Portland, Vu is an active member of the Vietnamese Community of Oregon and a member of Our Lady of La Vang church.

The interview begins with Vu summarizing her immigration and sponsorship to Portland. She discusses living temporarily with her family in Halsey Square, before moving further into Northeast Portland. From there, Vu talks about going back to school at Portland Community College as well her time with the Vietnamese Student Association. Vu speaks about her involvement in her church choir and describes the Sunday school that Our Lady of La Vang organizes. Next, Vu discusses how the Vietnamese community in Portland has changed over time and the relationship her children have to Vietnamese language and cultural. The interview concludes with Vu talking about her family's life in Vietnam after the Fall of Saigon.
